A Journey to the Norwegian Arctic Circle

The last time I played a train film from the NRK, The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, was in 2016. Given this event — the Winter Solstice Soirée — it seemed a good time to revisit the place.

In November 2009, over 1.2 million Norwegians tuned in to watch a 7½ hour documentary on the “Bergensbanen”, or Bergen Railway, a line that travels between Bergen and Oslo, Norway.

After this proved so popular, the NRK recorded Norway’s northenmost railway linking Trondheim and Bodø four times — once for every season.

For this performance, I took 90 minutes toward the end of the Winter journey, a section of snowy woods and unbroken lines, and accompanied it with new solo music I had written and worked on during the winter months.
