Premonition 1965
“Some of the the voices, the music, yelling, laughing, shooting, singing, shouting, and noises most of us heard this year.”
A couple months ago, I found a record made by the Associated Press. It was the top news of 1965, in sound.
The Voting Rights Act, just struck down by the Supreme Court. The Social Security Act, authorizing Medicare, passed over strenuous objections of “socialized medicine.” The creation of the NEA and Headstart. Immigration, truth in packaging, high-speed mass transit, mental health facilities, housing acts, higher education acts. And of course, Vietnam, which had just turned a corner, beginning systematic bombing campaigns.
So that’s what this show is about.
Joining me on drums is Nic Stott! Nic played drums on Barbarella, The Twilight Zone, and the first Faust show. Further back, Nic played guitar on Modern Appliances, Journey to Space, and probably some shows I don’t remember. He’s back from Portland for a brief visit, and I’m very excited we get to play another show together.
Bloody Molly closes out the night, and they will crush it! Sham Lee and Tony Price bring you some of the best hip-hop in town.
