The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
"Everywhere there are spirits...
They are all around us...
They have driven me from hearth and home, from my wife and children."
Modern Robot is pleased to present a live soundtrack to the 1920 horror classic, “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari”.
A wild-eyed, crazy doctor comes to town to exhibit his “somnambulist” slave, a zombie-like creature that never truly awake, but can foresee the future. And then — the mysterious murders begin.
“Caligari” is one of the first films that we’d call a horror movie. The frame story, the twist ending, the uneasy atmosphere — these things influenced filmmakers for decades. The sets are beautiful, expressionist art pieces, stylized and and abstract. The acting is not the best, but we think you’re going to find this show wonderfully fun and creepy.
And... NYP’s got $1 domestic bottles!
“You fools, this man is plotting our doom! We die at dawn! He is Caligari!”
